Infrastructure Supervisor - Head Office - KZN

MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Infrastructure Operations Management

• Supervises the day-to-day operation of the Bank's technology infrastructure environment.
• Monitors system availability, performance and capacity.
• Ensures infrastructure incidents are addressed within agreed service levels.
• Coordinates infrastructure support activities across internal teams and service providers.
• Ensures operational stability across server, network and platform environments.

Server and Platform Administration Oversight

• Oversees the administration of Windows, Linux, database and application server environments.
• Coordinates activities relating to Oracle, SQL, backup, recovery and high-availability platforms.
• Ensures infrastructure configurations are documented and maintained.
• Supports system upgrades, patching and maintenance activities.
• Ensures operational standards are applied consistently across infrastructure environments.

Network and Communications Support

• Oversees network availability and performance.
• Assists with management of network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, VPN and internet connectivity.
• Coordinates troubleshooting of network-related issues.
• Supports implementation of network enhancements and upgrades.
• Monitors infrastructure performance and recommends improvements.

Infrastructure Security and Compliance

• Supports implementation of infrastructure security controls.
• Ensures security patches and updates are applied appropriately.
• Assists with vulnerability remediation activities.
• Supports compliance with Bank technology security standards.
• Maintains infrastructure documentation required for audit and compliance reviews.

Backup, Recovery and Business Continuity

• Oversees implementation of backup and recovery procedures.
• Monitors backup success rates and recovery readiness.
• Supports disaster recovery planning and testing activities.
• Maintains operational readiness of disaster recovery environments.
• Ensures infrastructure recovery procedures remain current and tested.

Vendor and Service Provider Management

• Coordinates activities with infrastructure vendors and support providers.
• Monitors vendor performance against service level agreements.
• Escalates infrastructure service issues where necessary.
• Assists with vendor evaluations and service reviews.
• Ensures third-party support activities are effectively managed.

Infrastructure Projects and Implementations

• Participates in infrastructure projects and technology upgrades.
• Coordinates implementation activities relating to infrastructure initiatives.
• Assists with infrastructure planning and resource allocation.
• Supports deployment of new technology solutions.
• Ensures infrastructure projects comply with operational standards.

Incident and Problem Management

• Supervises resolution of infrastructure incidents.
• Coordinates root cause analysis for recurring issues.
• Maintains incident and problem management records.
• Implements corrective actions to reduce repeat incidents.
• Provides escalation support for critical technology issues.

Team Leadership and Technical Support

• Provides day-to-day supervision of infrastructure administrators and technical resources.
• Assists with performance management and staff development.
• Provides technical guidance and mentoring to team members.
• Identifies skills gaps and training requirements.
• Supports succession planning within the Infrastructure function.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline.
• Microsoft certification advantageous.
• Network certification advantageous.
• ITIL certification advantageous.
• Infrastructure-related professional certifications preferred.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 5 years infrastructure administration or support experience.
• Experience supporting enterprise technology environments.
• Experience with server, storage and network infrastructure.
• Experience supporting disaster recovery and backup environments.
• Banking or financial services experience advantageous.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
