ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Strong proficiency in Python for automation, scripting, and tooling development.
  • Advanced Bash/Linux shell skills with comfort operating and troubleshooting in Linux environments.
  • Experience designing, building and operating CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline).
  • Deep knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with configuration management and orchestration tools such as Ansible.
  • Expertise in API integration and automation (RESTful APIs, webhooks, message-based integrations).
  • Experience implementing automated testing including API testing and automated regression testing.
  • Proven ability to design idempotent automation, retries, compensation patterns and robust error handling.
  • Experience with workflow and orchestration engines (e.g., Temporal, Camunda, AWS Step Functions) and event-driven orchestration.
  • Strong debugging, monitoring and operational skills to run and maintain automation in production; instrumentsn automation with metrics, structured logs and traces and defines SLOs.

ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS

  • Familiarity with SOAR-style runbooks and automated remediation frameworks.
  • Knowledge of AWS platform services and cloud-native automation patterns (Lambda, Step Functions, S3, API Gateway).
  • Experience with observability tooling and metrics for automation (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Familiarity with message brokers and pub/sub systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, SNS/SQS).
  • Experience with secure secret management and certificate management in automation (e.g., AWS Secrets Manager, HashiCorp Vault).
  • Background in security automation and Zero Trust integrations.
  • Experience designing for high-availability, scalability and fault-tolerance in orchestration systems.
  • Familiarity with container platforms and deployment automation (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS).
  • Experience with GitOps workflows and policy-as-code approaches (ArgoCD, Flux, OPA).
  • Prior work building reusable automation libraries and developer-friendly APIs.

Duties & Responsibilities

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, build and operate run-time automation and orchestration that integrates Zero Trust interfaces, APIs and multiple data sources.
  • Automate repetitive, testable and operational activities across workflows, infrastructure, deployments and runbooks.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and AWS CodePipeline to deliver automation artifacts reliably.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and configuration management (Ansible) to provision and manage AWS environments.
  • Develop and maintain Python and Bash automation tooling, scripts and reusable libraries.
  • Design and operate workflow orchestration solutions (Temporal, Camunda, AWS Step Functions) for eventdriven and long-running processes.
  • Create and maintain SOAR-style runbooks and automated remediation playbooks to reduce manual incident response.
  • Implement robust testing strategies including API testing and automated regression testing for automation outputs.
  • Ensure idempotency, retry, compensation and error handling patterns are applied across orchestrations and integrations.
  • Integrate with APIs, webhooks, and message-based systems (SNS/SQS, EventBridge, Kafka) to enable end-toend automated flows.
  • Define, document and meet operational SLAs (availability, latency, MTTR) for automation services and maintain capacity plans.
  • Own automation alerting, runbooks and participate in incident response/on-call rotations to ensure rapid remediation.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • 6+ years hands-on experience in Automation Engineering (or closely related roles such as Site Reliability
  • Engineering or Platform Engineering) with demonstrable automation ownership; strong Linux experience required.
  • Proven track record delivering production-grade automation: Python/Bash scripting, CI/CD, Terraform/IaC and orchestration engines.
  • Preferred certifications: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional; HashiCorp Certified: Terraform
  • Associate; AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional); AWS Certified Developer – Associate;
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate.
  • Strong problem-solving and solution-thinking mindset, process improvement orientation, attention to detail, curiosity, ownership and drive.
