Gijima Staffing Solutions is recruiting for an exceptional Industry Analyst to join a high-impact programme office supporting South Africa's Just Energy Transition initiatives. This exciting opportunity is suited to a commercially minded and analytically strong professional who is passionate about industrial development, economic transformation, green energy, and sustainable growth. The successful candidate will play a key role in researching, analysing and shaping strategic interventions across emerging industries linked to Green Hydrogen (GH2) and New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), contributing to programmes that support long-term economic development and industrialisation in South Africa. Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Relevant Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Commerce, Engineering, Finance, Development Studies or a related field.
  • A Master's Degree (MBA, Economics, Commerce, Engineering or similar) will be advantageous.

Experience

  • 3 to 8 years' experience in industry, sector, value-chain or economic research and analysis.
  • Experience gained within a leading consulting firm, research organisation, development finance institution, think tank, green economy organisation or similar environment will be highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting first-principles research and strategic industry analysis.
  • Experience sourcing, compiling and analysing quantitative and statistical information.
  • Exposure to coordinating or contributing to economic research projects.
  • Experience developing financial models and undertaking technical and quantitative analysis.

Knowledge and Expertise

The ideal candidate will have

  • Strong understanding of economic policy, macroeconomic trends and development economics.
  • Knowledge of South Africa's industrial and socio-economic environment.
  • Insight into industrial development, regional development and transformation initiatives.
  • Understanding of the Just Energy Transition landscape and associated opportunities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Exceptional report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for

  • Conducting in-depth research and analysis of industries, value chains and sub-sectors within Green Hydrogen, New Energy Vehicles and related sectors.
  • Assessing industry performance, market dynamics, future trends, opportunities, risks and development potential.
  • Producing strategic reports, presentations, publications and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Contributing to industry and sector development strategies.
  • Supporting macro-economic, industry and sector forecasting activities.
  • Analysing supply and demand conditions across key industrial and commodity markets.
  • Identifying investment and development opportunities that support industrial growth and economic impact.
  • Performing technical analysis of industrial, energy and related commodities.
  • Developing commodity price forecasts and economic outlook assessments.
  • Participating in the design and development of innovative funding and support mechanisms.
  • Building and utilising statistical and analytical models to support policy, strategy and investment decisions.
  • Conducting techno-economic assessments, project evaluations and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Sharing industry insights with internal and external stakeholders while contributing to knowledge-sharing initiatives.
