Job Purpose

  • Management of project shipments for Industrial Project customers and communications with customers on shipment status.

In this Industrial Projects Operations Controller position

  • Accepts all orders estimates as assigned by the Operations Manager
  • Open Files
  • Creates and confirms transport order
  • Performs booking and booking optimization
  • Prepares, controls and distributes all required documents
  • Maintains excellent relationships with suppliers
  • Is responsible for identifying performance issues of suppliers and proposes solutions to improve/correct performance
  • Meeting with service providers when necessary
  • Coordinating export and import of project cargo worldwide via air, sea and road-freight either Containerised or Breakbulk in line with customer SOP
  • Proactively informs customer on shipment status, exceptions and provides intermediate updates on incident solution.
  • Takes and handles customer inquiries.
  • Ensure effective tracking of cargo and submission of status reports.
  • Ensure handling cost control and file/project profitability.
  • Preparing invoices and updating EDocs
  • Takes and registers all customer complaints.
  • Drives solution of customer complaints and acts as first contact point for customer claims.
  • Collaborates closely with other DGF departments for smooth handling of shipments and continuous updates.
  • Escalates issues, if required.
  • Ensures that every document is in the file before filling and that the file control sheet is completed for every file
  • Assess risks within the logistics chain and obtain authorization if required
  • Attends meetings adhoc and based on SOP requirements
  • Quality checking of invoicing
  • Travel to site if required
  • Ensure KPIs are met

  • Computer Literate – All MS Programs & CW1 and willing to learn additional computer skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and transfer of knowledge to team members
  • Ability to work within time constraints, make own decisions and advise Client of logistics solutions
  • Punctuality and time management skills are essential elements of this position.
  • Ability to work under extreme pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on all levels
  • Ability to use initiative and be a self-starter
  • Creativity and problem-solving capabilities
  • Outstanding Customer relationship skills a necessity
  • Must have previous freight experience
  • Experience: Min 2 years related experience
  • Education: Must have Matric
  • Preferable tertiary education including diploma an advantage.
