Will include but not be limited to the following
- Manage and monitor the daily incubation process from egg setting through to transfer and hatch.
- Ensure incubators are operated according to prescribed temperature, humidity, ventilation and operational parameters.
- Conduct and oversee routine incubator checks, ensuring deviations are identified and addressed promptly.
- Monitor machine performance and escalate mechanical or technical issues to the Maintenance Department.
- Ensure correct egg-setting patterns and production schedules are followed.
- Monitor flock, egg and incubation performance and identify trends requiring corrective action.
- Ensure accurate completion of incubation records, check sheets and production reports.
- Supervise and allocate duties to Incubation Operators and General Workers.
- Ensure employees follow the correct reporting structure and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Provide on-the-job training, guidance and coaching to employees where required.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels and effective handovers between shifts.
- Ensure daily and weekly production targets are achieved.
- Monitor fertility, hatchability, chick quality and other relevant incubation Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Investigate production deviations and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure accurate reporting of incubation results and production performance.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and improved production efficiency.
- Ensure strict compliance with hatchery biosecurity procedures.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping within the incubation area.
- Ensure cleaning and disinfection procedures are completed according to SOPs.
- Monitor compliance with 20 Keys standards and relevant company requirements.
- Ensure employees comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment within the incubation department.
- Ensure all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn and used correctly.
- Report incidents, hazards and unsafe working practices promptly.
- Ensure all departmental procedures, SOPs and company policies are consistently followed.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Apply a sound understanding of commercial hatchery and incubation processes.
- Work effectively under pressure and consistently meet production deadlines.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Communicate effectively and maintain accurate reporting.
- Analyse production data and identify trends, risks and areas requiring improvement.
- Be willing to work shifts, including night shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.
- Be able to work effectively in a production and hatchery environment.
- Willingness to work shifts, including night shifts, weekends and public holidays where required.
- Ability to work in a production environment.
