Position: Human Resources & Accounting Administration Officer

Company: Masonry Manufacturer Company

Location: Philippi, Cape Town, Western Cape

Role Purpose

To provide efficient human resources support and manage accounting administration to ensure accurate financial processes and compliant HR practices. The role combines HR coordination with hands-on accounting support and administrative support in an operational environment.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

· Diploma or Certificate in Human Resources, Accounting or Administration (preferred)

Experience

· 2–5 years in a similar HR and Accounting Administration role

· Experience in a manufacturing/operational environment advantageous

Essential Knowledge & Systems

· Proven experience with Pastel Payroll (essential)

· Proven experience with Pastel Accounting / Sage Pastel (essential)

· Time & Attendance system management

· Understanding of South African labour legislation (BCEA, disciplinary processes)

· Working knowledge of basic accounting principles (debtors, creditors, reconciliations)

Key Responsibilities

1. Human Resources (Primary Focus)

· Maintain employee records (contracts, personnel files, leave, disciplinary documentation)

· Coordinate recruitment processes (advertising, screening, interview scheduling)

· Manage onboarding and induction of new employees

· Administer attendance and leave tracking

· Support disciplinary and performance processes in line with company procedures

· Ensure HR compliance (BCEA, policies, record-keeping)

· Provide payroll processing and administration via Pastel Payroll

· Draft standard HR documentation (contracts, warnings, notices)

2. Accounting Administration & Support

· Capture and process supplier invoices and reconcile statements using Pastel Accounting

· Manage creditor administration

· Prepare and follow up on supplier invoices and statements

· Maintain cashbook entries and perform basic reconciliations

· Ensure accurate financial record-keeping and filing

· Assist with month-end processes

· Liaise with internal/external accountants where required

· Support basic stock administration and record keeping

3. General Support

· Assist management with ad hoc administrative and reporting tasks

· Maintain organised, audit-ready records

· Ensure confidentiality of HR and financial information
