Key purpose: The Human Resources and Payroll Administrator plays a vital role in fostering a positive and efficient workplace environment within the retail grocery store. This position is designed to support the overall HR functions by managing employee relations, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and facilitating effective communication between staff and management. The administrator will enhance employee engagement, streamline HR processes, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, ultimately driving the store’s operational success and employee satisfaction.

Duties & Responsibilities

Welcome & Connect: Greet visitors and manage communications, ensuring a friendly atmosphere.

· Admin Magic: Handle general admin tasks, maintain confidential personnel records, and assist with various HR documentation (e.g., UIF, contracts).

· Support Staff: Act as a liaison between employees and management, addressing queries and coordinating meetings.

· Culture Champion: Foster a positive work environment through one-on-ones and engagement initiatives.

· Training & Development: Help schedule training for staff and support new employee transitions.

· Team Player: Provide customer service coverage and assist in conflict resolution.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Experience: 1-3 years in HR, preferably in retail, with a solid grasp of South African labour laws.

· Education: HR certification or relevant degree, along with a Matric qualification.

· Skills: Strong organisational abilities, excellent communication skills, and a proactive attitude.
