Duties & Responsibilities

Main Job Function

We are looking for an HTML Developer with a strong interest in gamification and interactive experiences to help build engaging, responsive, and dynamic user interfaces for game‑driven products. This role focuses on translating briefs for game mechanics and design concepts into polished, performant front‑end experiences. You will work closely with designers, UX/UI designers, and engineers to implement gamification elements such as progress states, rewards, animations, transitions, and interactive feedback systems. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys turning mechanics into clear, satisfying player experiences.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

  • Matric & Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+)
  • Experience building interactive UI components, not just static pages
  • Solid understanding of CSS animations, transitions, and transforms
  • Familiarity with managing UI state and dynamic updates
  • Experience with responsive design and mobile‑first development
  • Ability to work accurately from design mock-ups and interaction specs
  • Comfortable collaborating in a multidisciplinary team environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience working on games, gamified products, or interactive media
  • Familiarity with canvas, SVG animations, or lightweight animation libraries
  • Experience with frameworks or tooling (e.g. React, Vue, or similar)
  • Understanding of game UX principles (player feedback, anticipation, reward timing)
  • Interest in game mechanics, player psychology, or interactive storytelling

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain interactive, game‑like UI components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for a mobile first environment
  • Implement gamification elements such as:
  • Progress indicators and meters
  • Persistent states (e.g. collected items, activated features)
  • Animations, transitions, and visual feedback
  • Reward and unlock sequences
  • Translate UI and interaction designs into high‑quality, responsive layouts
  • Work with designers to refine timing, motion, and visual clarity of interactive elements
  • Understand and comprehend CMS systems to facilitate the building of the gamification
  • Ensure interfaces perform smoothly across all platforms and devices
  • Maintain clean, modular, and reusable front‑end code
  • Debug and optimise interactive elements for performance and stability
