The HSSEQ Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality management systems across the fleet and logistics operations. This role ensures strict compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), National Road Traffic Act (NRTA), and ISO standards. The primary focus is to mitigate operational risks, reduce road accidents, manage driver wellness and fatigue, oversee dangerous goods compliance, and champion a zero-harm safety culture across all depots and routes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and continuously update comprehensive HSEQ manuals, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Align company systems with international standards (ISO 9001: Quality, ISO 14001: Environment, and ISO 45001: Occupational Health & Safety).
- Ensure all fleet operations comply with the South African Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and the National Road Traffic Act (NRTA).
- Conduct routine risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), depot inspections, and en-route safety evaluations.
- Ensure the organization complies with all local, provincial, and national transport and environmental regulations
Desired Experience & Qualification
- National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or a closely related discipline, Professional Certifications & Registrations
- SAMTRAC or NEBOSH International Certificate/Diploma.
- Active professional registration with Saiosh
1 to 3 years of progressive HSEQ experience, with at least 1 year in a management or supervisory role.
Highly preferred experience within high-risk logistics, transport, fleet management, or supply chain environments.
