HSE O&M Lead (Renewables) - De Aar (Northern Cape)

Activities

• To provide leadership, governance and assurance for Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability HSES management across the SPV portfolio, ensuring compliance with legal, shareholder, lender and company requirements while supporting safe and sustainable operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall HSE and Environmental & Sustainability oversight across SPV operational assets, including Wind, Solar PV,
• BESS and associated electrical infrastructure, to meet HSE, E&S KPI targets.
• Review, draft, and ensure the implementation of the Contractors and the Project Company HSE plans in compliance with the Company Rules, the local legislation, and International Standards.
• Ensure the reporting on HSE matters and done accurate and timeously.
• Coordinate legal compliance, permit obligations and company HSE requirements.
• Lead implementation and continual improvement of the HSE Management System.
• Provide contractor assurance through audits, inspections, reviews and performance monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, sustainability and lender requirements.
• Lead incident investigations, audit activities and corrective action management.
• Monitor operational risks and escalate significant HSE concerns to management.
• Act as the SPV focal point for One Maestro governance, reporting and action management.
• Prepare and present HSE reports to management and SPV governance structures.
• Support emergency preparedness, operational readiness and management of change activities.

Candidate Profile

• Preferably Diploma or Degree in Safety Management, Environmental or equivalent qualification SACPCMP would be advantageous
• 7+ years' combined HSE experience, preferably in the renewable energy environment or in industrial operations HSE and Security Management Systems
• Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, South African HSE legislation and environmental requirement in the operations of renewable energy projects and operational sites
• Experience managing HSE Management Systems, with Wind, Solar PV, BESS and substation operations, will be advantageous.
• Take ownership of meeting deadlines and drive tasks to completion
• Strong initiative and the ability to proactively identify required tasks.
• Able to work independently and in groups
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Understanding of MS Project and Primavera project schedules
• Excellent verbal and written communication skill and strong leadership, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficient in English.
• Willingness to travel and spend time on site
• A valid Driver's license
