Duties & Responsibilities

HR Intern

Johannesburg, Gauteng

We are seeking a motivated and organised HR Intern to join our Human Resources team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will gain practical experience across key HR functions, including recruitment, HR administration, employee records, onboarding, and reporting and general employee support.

This opportunity is ideal for a recent HR graduate who is eager to develop practical HR experience within a professional working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with recruitment and selection processes, including advertising vacancies, screening CVs and arranging interviews.

Assist with candidate communication and interview coordination.

Prepare recruitment and onboarding documentation.

Support the onboarding and induction of new employees.

Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and personnel files.

Assist with HR administration, including contracts, letters, forms and general correspondence.

Capture and update employee information on HR systems and spreadsheets.

Assist with leave, attendance and employee information administration.

Support performance management and training administration.

Assist with compiling HR reports and maintaining HR trackers.

Respond to basic employee HR queries and escalate matters where necessary.

Support employee engagement and wellness initiatives.

Assist with ensuring HR documentation complies with company policies and relevant labour legislation.

Provide general administrative support to the HR team.

Minimum Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, Labour Relations or a related field.

Recent graduate with an interest in developing a career in Human Resources.

Basic understanding of South African labour legislation and HR practices.

Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Strong administrative and organisational skills.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
