Start free — we apply for you →Job Title: HR Administrator Start Date: 2026-07-28 - 2026-08-28 Vacancy Type: Permanent JHB003326 Sectors: Human Resources Location: KwaZulu Natal , Pongola Salary: (Market related) Brief: Job Summary The HR Administrator is responsible for providing comprehensive human resources and administrative support to the lodge, ensuring efficient HR operations and compliance with South African labour legislation. The role supports the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee records, payroll administration, training coordination, employee wellness, and compliance, while contributing to a positive workplace culture and maintaining the exceptional standards expected in a luxury hospitality environment. Key Duties & Responsibilities Recruitment & Onboarding Assist with the recruitment process, including advertising vacancies, screening CVs, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks. Prepare employment contracts, offer letters, and new employee documentation. Coordinate employee onboarding and induction programmes. Ensure all required documentation is completed before employment commences. Conduct orientation sessions for new employees regarding lodge policies and procedures. Employee Records & HR Administration Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files. Update HR databases and employee records. Monitor contract expiry dates, probation periods, work permits, and annual performance review schedules. Prepare HR reports and statistics for management. Issue employment confirmation letters and other HR documentation as required. Ensure compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Payroll Administration Capture and verify timesheets, attendance records, overtime, leave, and shift information. Prepare payroll information for submission to the payroll department or external payroll provider. Reconcile payroll reports and resolve payroll-related queries. Administer employee benefits, deductions, and statutory contributions. Ensure payroll deadlines are consistently met. Leave & Attendance Management Administer annual, sick, family responsibility, maternity, and other statutory leave. Monitor employee attendance and absenteeism. Maintain accurate leave records. Generate monthly leave and attendance reports. Follow up on outstanding leave documentation. Employee Relations Assist with disciplinary, grievance, incapacity, and performance management processes. Prepare documentation for disciplinary hearings and investigations. Maintain confidentiality during employee relations matters. Promote positive employee engagement and workplace morale. Support management with HR advice and policy implementation. Training & Development Coordinate internal and external training programmes. Maintain employee training records and skills matrices. Assist with Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) administration. Coordinate learnerships, internships, and skills development initiatives. Monitor mandatory compliance training. Compliance Ensure compliance with: Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA) Labour Relations Act (LRA) Employment Equity Act (EEA) Skills Development Act (SDA) Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) Assist with Employment Equity reporting. Maintain HR policies and procedures. Support internal and external HR audits. Staff Welfare Coordinate employee wellness initiatives. Assist with staff accommodation administration where applicable. Organize employee recognition programmes and staff events. Support employee communication initiatives. Assist employees with HR-related enquiries. General Administration Order HR stationery and office supplies. Prepare meeting minutes and HR correspondence. Maintain filing systems. Assist the Finance department with HR-related administration when required. Support the HR Manager and Lodge Manager with ad hoc administrative duties. Detail: Minimum Qualifications Grade 12 (Matric). Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field. Payroll administration qualification is advantageous. Valid driver's licence is preferred. Experience Required Minimum 2–4 years' HR administration experience. Previous experience in a luxury lodge, hotel, hospitality, or tourism environment is highly advantageous. Experience with payroll administration and HR information systems (HRIS).
