Working hours

  • approximately 50 hours per week with flexibility. Days and times to be confirmed on an as needed basis and requires someone who is genuinely flexible, as the working hours will vary depending on the children's school, activities, appointments and social commitments. Friday and Saturday evenings will regularly be required for transporting the children to and from parties, friends and other social activities

A family is looking for a HOUSE MANGER / GOVERNESS for their children aged 17 years old, 15 years old, 12 years old and 7 years old

  • Area: Tamboerskloof
  • Ages: 17 years old, 15 years old, 12 years old and 7 years old
  • Salary: R25 000 - R28 000 per month gross before deductions + SARS rate per km
  • Working hours: approximately 50 hours per week with flexibility. Days and times to be confirmed on an as needed basis and requires someone who is genuinely flexible, as the working hours will vary depending on the children's school, activities, appointments and social commitments. Friday and Saturday evenings will regularly be required for transporting the children to and from parties, friends and other social activities

CHILDREN & GOVERNESS RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the children's daily routines and schedules.
  • School drop offs and collections.
  • Transport children to and from extracurricular activities, appointments, friends' homes and social engagements.
  • Assist with homework, reading and general academic support.
  • Ensure school bags, sports bags and other items are packed and ready as required.
  • Ensure children have everything they need for school, activities, outings and appointments.
  • Prepare snacks and meals for the children.
  • Keep track of school requirements, activities, appointments and important dates.
  • Take children to medical, dental, veterinary and other relevant appointments where required.
  • Coordinate children's transport and logistics.
  • Be responsible for the children when the parents are not available.
  • Friday and Saturday evening driving will be required, including collecting the children from parties, friends and social engagements.
  • Be prepared to work occasional later evenings when required by the family's schedule.

FAMILY & HOUSEHOLD SUPPORT

  • Prepare and cook family dinners and assist with general meal preparation.
  • Do grocery shopping and other household shopping.
  • Run general household errands.
  • Arrange and coordinate car servicing, repairs and other vehicle-related appointments.
  • Collect prescriptions, parcels and other items where required.
  • Coordinate household deliveries and service providers.
  • Assist with organising travel-related items, children's packing and family logistics when required.
  • Maintain household lists, schedules and reminders.
  • The House Manager will act as the main point of contact for a variety of household staff, contractors and service providers.
  • Coordinate household staff and ensure that duties are being completed appropriately.
  • Act as the point of contact for gardeners, landscapers, maintenance teams, cleaners and other household staff.
  • Arrange and oversee household maintenance and repairs. Coordinate appointments with plumbers, electricians, builders, technicians and other contractors. Liaise with the family's architect and other professional service providers when required.
  • Assist with general household organisation and administration.
  • Ensure the household operates smoothly and efficiently on a daily basis.
  • Coordinate veterinary appointments.
  • Transport pets to and from the vet or other appointments.
  • Liaise with vets and pet service providers

AIRBNB & RENTAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

  • The House Manager will act as a key point of contact for the family's rental properties, including:
  • Communicating with cleaners and maintenance providers.
  • Organising repairs and maintenance.
  • Following up on issues at the properties.
  • Ensuring properties are properly prepared and maintained.
  • Coordinating access for contractors and service providers.
  • Assisting with the general day-to-day administration and smooth running of the rental properties.
  • Keeping the family updated on any problems, maintenance requirements or guest-related matters.

Requirements

  • Confident, good cook who can prepare family meals. Mature, experienced and highly responsible. Previous experience as a House Manager, Governess, Senior Nanny or Family Assistant.
  • Highly organised, proactive and able to manage a busy household independently. Extremely flexible and available to work approximately 50 hours per week, including late evenings and Friday/Saturday night collections.
  • Personal circumstances must allow for this level of flexibility and availability. Excellent driver with a valid license and own reliable vehicle.

Contract term: ASAP start - permanent contract

All Au Pair Extraordinaire applicants must fill the following requirements:

  • Must have at least 12 consecutive months of formal child caring experience, excluding work done for friends and family. This experience must be within the last 2 years.
  • Must have their own, reliable car and at least 18 months driving experience.
  • Must have at least 2 contactable childcare references.
  • Must have a clear criminal record
  • Must have a passion for children
  • Must have Matric
  • Must have a South African ID document.
