Cape Town | Interior Design Firm

An established and professional Interior Design firm based in Cape Town  is looking for a highly organised, polished and hands-on Hospitality Assistant  to join their team.

This is a varied role suited to someone who takes genuine pride in maintaining a beautifully presented environment and who naturally has a hospitality and service-oriented mindset . The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the office is consistently clean, organised, welcoming and well maintained, while providing day-to-day hospitality, kitchen and general support to management, staff, clients and visitors.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is proactive, discreet, exceptionally neat and detail-oriented , with the ability to anticipate what needs to be done without constant supervision.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning & Office Maintenance

  • Maintain a consistently clean, hygienic, tidy and presentable office.
  • Clean offices, reception areas, meeting rooms, restrooms, kitchen and common areas.
  • Dust, wipe, vacuum and mop surfaces and floors as required.
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch areas and frequently used surfaces.
  • Keep restrooms clean, hygienic and fully stocked.
  • Empty bins and manage waste appropriately.
  • Clean windows, mirrors, glass, furniture and other office surfaces as required.
  • Identify and report maintenance, damage or repair issues promptly.

Hospitality & Beverage Service

  • Prepare and serve coffee, tea and other beverages for staff and guests.
  • Maintain clean, tidy and fully stocked beverage stations.
  • Clean and maintain coffee machines, kettles and related equipment.
  • Ensure cups, mugs, glasses and beverage equipment are clean and properly stored.
  • Assist with refreshments and hospitality for meetings, clients, guests and office events.

Lunch Preparation

  • Prepare the Principal’s lunch each working day according to his preferences and instructions.
  • Ensure ingredients are available and appropriately stocked.
  • Prepare meals in a clean, hygienic and organised kitchen.
  • Ensure lunch is prepared and ready at the agreed time.
  • Clean and tidy the kitchen and preparation area after use.
  • Monitor food supplies and advise the Operations Manager when purchases are required.

Kitchen & Dishware Management

  • Ensure all crockery, cutlery, glasses, mugs and kitchen equipment are cleaned after use.
  • Load and unload the dishwasher and hand-wash items where necessary.
  • Keep kitchen counters, sinks, appliances and food preparation areas clean and hygienic.
  • Maintain an organised, tidy and presentable kitchen throughout the day.
  • Monitor kitchen and food supplies and report low stock levels.

Stock & Supplies

  • Monitor office, kitchen, beverage, cleaning and restroom supplies.
  • Maintain appropriate and organised stock levels.
  • Check expiry dates and remove expired or unsuitable products.
  • Keep storage areas, cupboards and refrigerators clean and organised.
  • Notify the Operations Manager when supplies need to be purchased or replenished.
  • Use cleaning products and equipment safely and appropriately.

Office Presentation & General Support

  • Maintain a professional, welcoming and beautifully presented environment at all times.
  • Prepare and reset meeting areas as required.
  • Maintain indoor plants and the immediate exterior/entrance area.
  • Wash and maintain kitchen towels, cleaning cloths and other office linen as required.
  • Manage waste and recycling appropriately.
  • Assist with reasonable office, hospitality and household-related duties as requested by management.

Daily Organisation

  • Establish and follow an effective daily cleaning and hospitality routine.
  • Prioritise tasks according to the needs of the office.
  • Complete essential duties before the start of the working day where required.
  • Conduct regular checks throughout the day to maintain cleanliness, presentation and stock levels.
  • Complete end-of-day checks of the kitchen, restrooms and common areas.
  • Ensure cleaning equipment, supplies and other items are properly stored.

Communication & Professional Standards

  • Communicate regularly with the Operations Manager regarding office requirements, supplies, maintenance and other concerns.
  • Report damage, breakages, maintenance issues or unusual incidents promptly.
  • Take initiative and address tasks requiring attention without always needing instruction.
  • Maintain a reliable, punctual, organised and professional approach.
  • Be friendly, discreet and respectful when dealing with staff, clients and visitors.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the company, its staff, clients and visitors.
  • Follow all applicable health, safety and hygiene requirements.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience  in a similar hospitality, office assistant, household assistant, hotel, guesthouse or high-end service environment.
  • Extremely neat, organised and takes pride in maintaining a spotless and beautifully presented environment.
  • Proactive and able to identify what needs to be done without being constantly instructed.
  • Naturally service-oriented and attentive to the needs of management, staff and guests.
  • Discreet, trustworthy and respectful of confidentiality and privacy.
  • Polished, professional, friendly and comfortable interacting with clients and visitors.
  • Highly detail-oriented and observant.
  • Reliable, punctual and consistent, with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing a daily routine.
  • Flexible and willing to assist with changing requirements, meetings, guests and additional hospitality duties.
  • Strong awareness of hygiene, cleanliness, food preparation and kitchen standards.
  • Well organised when managing office, kitchen, beverage, cleaning and food supplies.
  • Hands-on and willing to assist with cleaning, food preparation, kitchen duties, laundry, plant maintenance and general office requirements.
  • Respectful of professional boundaries.
  • A good communicator who is comfortable reporting requirements or concerns to the Operations Manager.

Package & Remuneration

R10 000 - R12 000 Gross
