Role Requirements To succeed in this role, you will need a Grade 12 certificate with Typing as a subject, demonstrating your ability to meet the technical and administrative demands of a fast-paced laboratory environment where accuracy and efficiency are essential. Previous Dictaphone typing experience will be highly advantageous, as you will be responsible for accurately transcribing pathologists’ dictations while maintaining the highest standards of quality and confidentiality. Familiarity with medical terminology, pathology terminology, and laboratory workflows will enable you to confidently navigate complex reports and documentation processes Skills Requirements The ideal candidate will have excellent computer literacy, strong typing skills, and exceptional attention to detail to ensure all work is completed accurately and within required laboratory turnaround times (TATs). You should be able to work effectively under pressure, prioritize urgent cases, and manage high workloads in a demanding environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills are also essential, as you will collaborate closely with colleagues to support the efficient operation of the laboratory and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care. You will need to read, write, and speak fluently in English and Afrikaans, perform basic calculations with confidence, and type at a speed of 50 words per minute. Your ability to work with computer systems will be key to your success. Role Impact Your work will directly support the smooth operation of our Histology and Cytology labs. From capturing patient data accurately to editing service request forms and managing administrative tasks, your attention to detail will help ensure that every report is reliable and every process runs efficiently. You will also play a part in maintaining strong client relationships, helping to uphold the trusted reputation of Ampath.
