- National Diploma or Degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Risk Management, or related field.
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Training.
- ISO 45001 Internal Auditor Certification added advantage
- Minimum 2 years in a senior or supervisory safety role.
- Proven experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Experience managing contractors and conducting audits.
- Strong knowledge of South African OHS legislation.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
Duties and Responsibilities not limited to
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations, standards, and company procedures.
- Assist in maintaining and improving the Health and Safety Management System ISO 45001 or equivalent.
- Facilitate hazard identification and risk assessments across all operational areas.
- Lead and facilitate investigations of incidents, near misses, injuries and property damage, events.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and awareness initiatives.
- Provide guidance and coaching to supervisors and employees on safety matters.
- Support emergency response planning and implementation and maintain emergency equipment inspection records.
- Promote a positive safety culture across the operation.
- Mentor Health and Safety Officers and Safety Representatives, facilitate safety committee meetings and drive employee engagement in safety improvement initiatives.
- Prepare safety reports, maintain statutory registers and safety records, and monitor key safety performance indicators.
- Analyse safety trends and recommend improvement actions.
- Lead internal health and safety audits, monitor implementation of audit findings and action plans, verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Monitor contractor compliance with site safety requirements, conduct contractor safety assessments and audits, ensure contractors meet legal and company requirements, and participate in contractor onboarding and performance reviews
