Salary
R11,000 – R12,000 per month
Working Hours
The successful candidate will work on a rotational shift basis
Morning shift: 06:00 – 15:00
Afternoon shift: 11:00 – 20:00
Includes a 1-hour lunch break
Required to work every second weekend
No night shifts
Role Overview
We are looking for a confident, customer-focused Head Receptionist / Front Desk Team Leader to oversee the day-to-day activities of the reception team.
The successful candidate will act as the senior member of the reception function, assisting with guest queries, coordinating the front desk team and ensuring that guests receive consistently professional and friendly service.
This position would suit someone who enjoys working with people, remains calm under pressure and is comfortable taking responsibility and making decisions when required.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day activities of the reception team.
Provide guidance and support to reception staff.
Ensure reception duties and daily tasks are completed correctly.
Welcome and assist guests in a professional and friendly manner.
Respond to guest enquiries both in person and electronically.
Handle guest concerns and resolve minor issues where possible.
Escalate more serious matters to management when required.
Coordinate reception activities during assigned shifts.
Assist with basic administrative duties.
Maintain accurate guest information and records.
Assist with email correspondence and guest communications.
Ensure reception areas are presentable and professionally managed.
Support the Head of Operations with operational requirements where needed.
Assist with training and supporting new reception team members.
Requirements
Previous experience in reception, front office, hospitality or customer service is preferred.
Previous team-leading, supervisory or senior reception experience would be advantageous.
No formal qualification is required.
Good computer literacy.
Comfortable working with email and computer-based systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to think on your feet and solve problems.
Able to remain professional when dealing with difficult or demanding situations.
Strong organisational skills.
Reliable, responsible and punctual.
Comfortable working rotational shifts and every second weekend.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be approachable yet confident, naturally service-orientated and comfortable taking ownership of the reception area. They should be someone the rest of the reception team can rely on for guidance while maintaining an excellent guest experience.
