Start free — we apply for you →- A well-established animal products and retail company is seeking a commercially driven and entrepreneurial Head of E-commerce to lead the development, launch, and growth of its e-commerce division. The successful candidate will take ownership of the e-commerce strategy, platform implementation, operational processes, customer experience, and commercial performance, while managing the project lifecycle from planning and platform selection through to launch, optimisation, and long-term growth. The role requires strong strategic leadership, digital marketing expertise, operational excellence, and people management capability.
Minimum requirements for the role
- Must have a bachelor's degree in E-commerce, Digital Marketing, Business Management, Information Systems, Commerce, or related field
- E-commerce, Project Management, or Digital Marketing certifications will be advantageous
- Minimum 3-5+ years' experience in E-commerce, Digital Commerce, or Online Retail
- Proven experience launching and scaling an e-commerce business or platform
- Must have experience managing e-commerce projects from implementation through to operational management
- Experience overseeing warehouse, fulfilment, and logistics operations is essential
- Must have a strong understanding of e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or similar
- Experience managing digital marketing budgets and performance campaigns is essential
- Prior leadership and people management experience is highly advantageous
The successful candidate will be responsible for
- Developing and leading the overall e-commerce strategy and growth plan.
- Leading the e-commerce platform implementation, from planning and selection through to launch.
- Managing e-commerce projects, budgets, timelines, integrations, and external partners.
- Establishing and overseeing warehouse, fulfilment, stock, returns, and logistics processes.
- Driving online sales, profitability, customer acquisition, and commercial performance.
- Overseeing website functionality, product catalogues, pricing, merchandising, and customer experience.
- Leading digital marketing activities, including SEO, Google Ads, social media, email, affiliates, and retargeting.
- Analysing sales, customer behaviour, conversion rates, and performance data to identify growth opportunities.
- Recruiting, leading, and developing the e-commerce team.
- Managing technology vendors and integrations with ERP, payment, warehouse, and logistics systems.
- Handling customer escalations and cross-functional stakeholder communication.
- Continuously optimising the e-commerce operation to support growth, efficiency, and profitability.
