- Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in a normal specialty or a recognized Sub-Specialty. Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist or Sub-Specialty in Orthopaedics and current registration for 2026/2027.
- A minimum of 3 years' appropriate experience as Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in a normal specialty or in a recognized Sub-Specialty in Orthopaedics.
- Competencies/Knowledge/Skills: Sound knowledge of government regulations, policies and acts. The ability to interpreted and implement policies. Administrative and management knowledge. Project management skills. Teambuilding, people and interpersonal relations skills. Communication skills verbal and written Organizational, problem-solving and interventional skills.
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic to contribute to the radiology care and services. The ability to work under pressure, lead transformational change in a complex environment and the ability to manage change in the department. The successful candidate must be adaptable, disciplined, and self-confident. The candidate must be able to work independently and under pressure and beyond normal working hours and work with diverse team. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
Duties
- Provision of a comprehensive clinical service for patients at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital; provision of undergraduate and postgraduate medical student teaching; provision of supervision and training of registrars, medical officers, interns, and nurses.
- Manage patients and provide administrative in the allocated Orthopaedic Surgery Unit at CHBAH, including deputizing for the head of department during his/her absence. Provide after – hours consultant duties and other general orthopaedic duties as required. ensure the proper and economical use of equipment and other resources and the willingness and an ability to initiate and conduct research is an absolute requirement.
- Appointed candidate will be expected to strengthen the regional and district health systems by providing outreach programmes; to participate in all divisional, departmental and faculty meetings to facilitate effective teaching and research as well as to enhance continuing professional development; to maintain quality assurance standards and other departmental policies.
- Attend meetings and training as approved by the head of department. Comply with the Performance Management and Development system contracting, quarterly reviews and final assessment. A firm commitment and undertaking appropriate clinical research and providing MMed supervision is an absolute requirement.
