- Responsible for the strategic planning and operational management of the Music and Theology Libraries.
- Responsible for human resource management.
- Providing information service, digital and information literacy training and research support to clients.
- Responsible for operational management.
- Developing and maintaining a collection of information resources that will meet the needs of the clients of the Music and Theology Libraries.
- Liaising, building relationships, communicating and marketing of training opportunities and services.
- Initiating projects to improve or expand services or functions in the Music and Theology Libraries.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science LIS, OR a bachelor's degree with a postgraduate diploma in Library and Information Science, OR an equivalent qualification.
- At least five years' experience in an information service environment of an academic library.
- At least two years' experience in a management position / role.
- Knowledge of the management of an academic, special or branch library.
- Knowledge of the needs of the academic community with regard to information resources, services, research support and other client services.
- General and subject knowledge, e.g. the extent and variety of printed and electronic resources.
- Proven experience of information literacy development via contact sessions and/or e-learning programmes.
- High level of computer proficiency, including advanced experience in the use of software such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, liaison and marketing skills.
Recommendation/Aanbeveling
- Exposure to and knowledge of the changing trends in research support and academic libraries in general.
- Basic knowledge of the integrated library system Alma.
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Good client- and service-oriented skills.
