TWK Agri has the following vacancy available: Group Tax Manager within the Finance division at Pretoria, Gauteng.

Job Summary This role involves managing the Group’s tax affairs by ensuring tax compliance, developing and implementing tax strategies, managing tax risks, overseeing tax reporting and providing strategic tax advice to support sound business decisions and optimise the Group’s overall tax position.

Responsibilities and Duties • Ensure compliance with all applicable tax legislation and regulations, including corporate income tax, VAT and other relevant taxes • Prepare, review and submit income tax, provisional tax, VAT and other relevant tax returns • Prepare and review monthly, half-year and year-end tax reporting and tax-related financial information • Calculate and process monthly tax journals and prepare tax consolidations • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimise the Group’s tax position and identify tax efficiencies and opportunities • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the Group’s operations and transactions • Manage transfer pricing policies, documentation and compliance in line with applicable legislation and guidelines • Provide tax input and advice on business decisions, legal restructurings, acquisitions, cross-border transactions and other strategic initiatives • Identify, assess and mitigate tax-related risks through effective controls, governance frameworks and policies • Liaise with SARS, ERS, external auditors, tax advisors and other relevant stakeholders on tax-related matters and audits • Support accurate tax data and reporting across the Group, including the alignment of accounting and tax information • Work closely with the Group Finance Executive, Group CFO and senior management on tax planning, strategy and risk matters • Develop and improve tax policies, processes, systems and practices to enhance efficiency, accuracy and governance • Lead, develop and strengthen the Group’s tax function, including building the necessary capability, processes and tools to support the Group’s tax requirements • Identify opportunities to leverage technology and automation to improve tax processes, reporting and compliance • Perform special tax projects and other related duties as required

Qualifications and Skills

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or a related field
  • BCom Honours in Taxation or SAICA CA(SA) qualification
  • Master’s degree in Taxation or a relevant postgraduate tax qualification (advantageous)
  • Minimum 5 years’ corporate tax experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ managerial or leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of South African and Eswatini corporate income tax, VAT and related tax legislation
  • Sound knowledge of corporate structures, transactions, transfer pricing and international tax principles
  • Experience dealing with SARS, ERS and managing tax audits and compliance matters
  • Financial reporting and tax consolidation experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to provide practical, commercially focused tax advice to senior management
  • Proactive approach with the ability to identify tax risks, opportunities and areas for improvement
  • High level of computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with tax, financial or ERP systems and systems implementation will be advantageous
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict reporting and compliance deadlines
  • High level of integrity, accountability and professional judgement
