- Coca-Cola Beverages Africa CCBA presents an exciting opportunity for a Group Specialist: Employee Relations, to join the People & Culture team at CCBA. The role will report to the Group Head: Employee Relations.
- The purpose of the role is to lead employee relations and people governance across the group by ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and organisational standards. The role provides expert guidance on labour law, employee relations, data integrity, governance and compliance measures, mitigation of people related risks and represents the organisation in relevant legal forums.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the application and continuous improvement of people governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, regulatory requirements, and organisational standards across all CCBA countries
- Maintain and update HR governance policies, including DEI and legislative requirements, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with country-specific labour laws
- Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for applying employment legislation, interpreting and explaining legal requirements from multiple countries to HR teams and stakeholders
- Conduct HR compliance audits and assessments, incorporating checks on legislative adherence, ER practices, and labour relations risks
- Lead the execution of HR compliance audits and assessments, preparing audit plans, gathering evidence, and producing clear findings and recommendations
- Monitor people governance risks, implement control measures, track remediation actions, and escalate emerging issues as needed
- Drive high data integrity by performing complex data audits, investigating discrepancies, and coordinating corrective actions with HR teams
- Develop and deliver training and awareness materials for HR and line managers on governance standards, labor legislation updates, ER processes, and compliance expectations.
- Represent the people governance function during external and internal knowledge-sharing sessions, supporting best-practice adoption
- Provide operational support in employee relations, including preparation for union engagements, analysis of collective bargaining agreements, and supporting negotiations
- Participate in relevant legal or labour forums, supporting CCBA's representation by gathering insights, preparing documentation, and ensuring accurate reflection of country-specific HR governance and ER issues
- Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date HR governance and ER documentation library, including legislation summaries, policies, templates, and country-specific compliance resources.
- Prepare reports and insights for HR leadership, integrating governance, legal compliance, ER risks, union activity trends, and collective bargaining outcomes
Skills, Experience & Education Qualifications:
- A degree in Industrial Psychology, Labour Law, Human Resources, or a related field
- Admitted Attorney will be advantageous
- Postgraduate qualification Honours or Masters in a relevant area is preferred
Experience
- 8+ years of experience in Human Resources or consulting, with at least 6 years focused on HR operations and governance
- Proven experience in leading HR governance, collective bargaining, risk management, and compliance initiatives
- Representation in legal forums
- Labour law expert
- Strong background in people practice audits, legislative compliance, and data integrity management
- Experience in developing and implementing HR policies and frameworks in large, complex organisations
- Prior experience in managing cross-functional projects and working with senior leadership to implement people governance strategies
