REQUIREMENTS

  • A BTech, BEng or BSc Engineering in Civil Engineering NQF 7 or more.
  • 2 to 3 years of working experience in roads and civil infrastructure.
  • Candidate registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa ECSA will be an added advantage.
  • A valid South African driver's licence.
  • Computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and related technical applications.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND MAIN TASKS BUT NOT LIMITED TO

  • Assist with RAL's Road Asset Management System.
  • Assist with Collect, verify, analyse and maintain road, pavement, bridge, traffic and related infrastructure data.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Road Asset Management Plan, maintenance plans and infrastructure programmes.
  • Support the identification and prioritisation of road construction, upgrading, rehabilitation and maintenance projects.
  • Assist with reviewing engineering reports, designs, drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
  • Prepare technical inputs for business plans, budgets, project reports, executive reports and funding submissions.
  • Assist with monitoring consultants, technical service providers, project deliverables, programmes and expenditure.
  • Undertake site inspections and verify road conditions and infrastructure requirements.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of technical standards, policies, procedures and reporting systems.
  • Maintain accurate technical records, project registers and asset-management information.
  • Support compliance with applicable legislation, TMH guidelines, engineering standards and organisational policies.
  • Perform other related duties within the Planning and Design Division.

  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to travel and undertake site inspections.
  • Commitment to professional development and ECSA registration
