Graduate Software Engineer

Overview

Our client is a globally recognised skincare company with products distributed across more than 160 countries. The business has experienced significant international growth by placing technology at the core of its operations and is seeking a Graduate Software Engineer to join its small, collaborative systems development team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a recent Computer Science or Software Engineering graduate to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment while contributing to the ongoing development of web-based ERP platforms and websites. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced developers, receiving mentorship while gaining exposure to the full systems development landscape, including feature development, bug fixes, code maintenance, and code reviews. Their systems are entirely web based and built using Ruby on Rails.

Responsibilities

·        Assist with the design, development, testing, and maintenance of web-based applications and platforms

·        Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of ERP systems and websites

·        Work alongside senior software developers to deliver high-quality software solutions

·        Participate in feature development, bug fixes, system improvements, and code maintenance

·        Assist with reviewing and improving code quality through code reviews

·        Troubleshoot technical issues and apply analytical problem-solving skills to resolve challenges

·        Learn and apply software development best practices, tools, and methodologies

·        Collaborate effectively with team members while progressively taking ownership of assigned tasks

Requirements

·        Graduate or up to 2 years experience

·        Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Information Systems

·        Strong foundational knowledge of software development principles

·        Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts

·        Familiarity with version control systems such as Git

·        Knowledge of databases, backend development, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

·        Exposure to Ruby on Rails is advantageous but not essential

·        Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

·        Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and systems
