We are a well-established FMCG manufacturer operating a technologically advanced 24-hour production facility in Parow Industria, Cape Town. Our business manufactures healthcare and packaging products and is driven by a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
We are seeking an early-career Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineer (BEng / BSc Eng) who is passionate about engineering and eager to develop their career in a modern manufacturing environment.
This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers while gaining practical exposure to maintenance engineering, machine design, process optimization, continuous improvement, fault-finding, and manufacturing operations.
A key feature of this role is exposure to the complete machine development lifecycle, including conceptual design, CAD modelling, machine building, testing, installation, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment. This provides an excellent foundation for a practical, hands-on engineering career within a manufacturing environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will
- Support engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in machine design and development projects, from initial CAD design and engineering calculations through fabrication, assembly, testing, installation, and commissioning of equipment within the manufacturing environment.
- Assist with mechanical design, machine modifications, and process improvement activities.
- Participate in preventative maintenance programmes aimed at improving equipment reliability.
- Conduct fault-finding and root cause analysis on production equipment and processes.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, and other operational teams.
- Contribute to improving manufacturing efficiency, productivity, and equipment performance.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must
- Hold a completed BEng or BSc Eng degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering.
- Have recently completed their degree or have limited post-graduate industry experience.
- Demonstrate an interest in machine design, CAD modelling, automation, manufacturing equipment, and practical engineering projects.
- Be willing to participate in the full machine development lifecycle, including design, fabrication, testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Be able to provide an academic transcript if shortlisted.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in manufacturing and engineering problem-solving.
