Graduate / Junior Engineer

Introduction

Our client, an established engineering consultancy specialising in façade engineering and building performance , is seeking a motivated Graduate / Junior Engineer to join their team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a recent Civil Engineering graduate or Junior Engineer with up to two years' experience to develop specialist expertise in façade engineering, structural design, digital modelling and building performance .

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary project teams on a variety of commercial, residential, healthcare, aviation and mixed-use developments

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and engineering of façade systems for a range of building projects.

• Support senior façade engineers with structural analysis, calculations and technical design documentation.

• Prepare engineering drawings, reports and technical specifications in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.

• Assist with the coordination of façade designs with architects, structural engineers, contractors and other project stakeholders.

• Perform engineering calculations relating to glass, aluminium, steel and façade support systems .

• Contribute to thermal, structural and building performance analyses.

• Assist in ensuring façade systems meet safety, energy efficiency and sustainability objectives.

• Develop and review 3D models using industry-standard software such as Revit, Rhino and Grasshopper .

• Assist with the implementation of parametric design workflows and digital engineering processes.

• Participate in project meetings, design reviews and coordination workshops.

• Conduct site inspections to monitor façade installation, workmanship and compliance with approved designs and quality standards.

• Assist with resolving technical queries and site-related engineering challenges.

• Ensure engineering work complies with relevant South African building regulations, international standards and company quality procedures .

• Maintain accurate project documentation, calculations and engineering records.

• Keep up to date with developments in façade engineering, materials, digital design technologies and sustainable building practices.

• Contribute to a collaborative, innovative and client-focused engineering environment.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• BEng or BSc Degree in Civil Engineering or a related qualification.

• Graduate or up to 2 years' relevant engineering experience .

• A genuine passion for buildings, engineering and good design .

• Curiosity about how buildings and façade systems perform.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

• Eagerness to learn, develop and build a career within a specialist engineering field.
