Job Title: Graduate / Junior Construction Manager Pretoria, Gauteng Start Date: 2026-08-12 - 2026-09-11 Vacancy Type: Permanent JHB000516 Sectors: Construction & Property Location: Gauteng , Tshwane (Pretoria) Salary: Brief: Graduate / Junior Construction Manager Location: Pretoria, Gauteng Employment Type: Permanent Level: Graduate / Junior Job Purpose We are seeking a recently qualified BSc Construction Management graduate who is eager to start and develop their career within the construction industry. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced Construction and Project Managers, gaining practical exposure to the planning, coordination and execution of construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate who wants to build strong practical site experience and develop towards becoming a professional Construction Manager. Detail: Key Responsibilities Site & Construction Coordination Assist with the day-to-day coordination of construction activities on site. Support the Construction Manager and Site Management team with project execution. Monitor daily site activities and progress against construction programmes. Assist with coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and site personnel. Conduct regular site inspections and report progress or potential problems. Assist in ensuring workmanship complies with drawings and project specifications. Monitor materials, equipment and resources required on site. Assist with resolving routine site-related queries and construction issues. Project Planning & Administration Assist with the preparation and updating of construction programmes and schedules. Maintain accurate project and site documentation. Assist with progress reports, site records and project correspondence. Attend site and project meetings and assist with recording minutes and action items. Assist with tracking project milestones and outstanding activities. Work with drawings, specifications, BOQs and other construction documentation. Assist with measurement and monitoring of completed work. Subcontractor & Supplier Coordination Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers regarding site requirements. Assist with monitoring subcontractor progress and performance. Ensure required materials are available according to the construction programme. Report delays, shortages or quality concerns to senior management. Assist with checking completed subcontractor work. Quality Control Assist with site quality inspections. Monitor construction work against approved drawings and specifications. Identify defects, incomplete work and potential quality concerns. Assist with snag lists and project close-out activities. Maintain appropriate quality documentation and records. Health & Safety Support compliance with Occupational Health & Safety requirements. Participate in site inspections and toolbox talks where required. Report unsafe working conditions or practices. Promote good housekeeping and safe working practices on construction sites. Minimum Requirements Recently completed BSc Construction Management or closely related recognised Construction Management qualification. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. 0–2 years' experience within construction will be considered. Vacation work, internships, learnerships or practical construction site exposure will be advantageous. Basic understanding of construction methods, processes and terminology. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings. Basic knowledge of project planning and construction programmes. Computer literate, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook . Exposure to MS Project or similar project planning software would be advantageous. Knowledge of construction health and safety requirements would be advantageous. Valid driver's licence preferred. Must be based in Pretoria/Gauteng or able to commute to construction sites in the region. Professional Registration Registration or eligibility for registration with SACPCMP as a Candidate Construction Manager / appropriate candidate category would be advantageous. Candidates who have not yet registered should be willing to work towards the appropriate professional registration and gain the required practical construction experience. Personal Attributes The ideal candidate will be: Eager to learn and develop within the construction industry. Comfortable working on active construction sites. Technically minded and attentive to detail. Organised and able to manage multiple tasks. A good communicator. Able to work effectively with contractors, subcontractors and site teams. Proactive and willing to take responsibility. Able to work under pressure and meet project deadlines. Willing to learn from experienced Construction and Project Managers. Ideal Candidate Profile This opportunity would suit a recent BSc Construction Management graduate who may not yet have extensive industry experience but demonstrates strong academic knowledge, practical ability, initiative and a genuine interest in developing a long-term career in construction management.
