Graduate Engineering Internship

Our client within the engineering sector based in Boksburg is seeking a recently qualified Engineering Graduate to join their team for an 18-month graduate internship , with a strong focus on technical sales and business development .

This opportunity is ideal for a recent BEng Engineering or BSc (Eng) Engineering graduate who is technically minded, commercially driven, confident engaging with clients, and eager to develop a career combining engineering and technical sales .

The role is predominantly field-based, with approximately 80% of the time spent on the road visiting clients and developing new business , and 20% office-based. Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Sales & Business Development – Approximately 80%

• Conduct canvassing and cold calling to identify and develop new business opportunities.

• Generate and qualify prospective sales leads within the relevant market.

• Conduct regular client and prospective client site visits.

• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with new and existing clients.

• Conduct market research, analysis, and customer segmentation to identify potential opportunities.

• Understand client requirements and assist in identifying suitable technical solutions.

• Prepare quotations, proposals, and supporting sales documentation.

• Conduct outbound sales activities and participate in negotiations with prospective clients.

• Follow up on quotations, proposals, and potential business opportunities.

• Maintain awareness of market trends, customer requirements, and competitor activity.

Engineering & Project Support – Approximately 20%

• Assist with the development of technical and engineering solutions based on client requirements.

• Support application engineering activities, including technical calculations and solution selection.

• Assist senior engineers with technical drawings, design work, and engineering analysis.

• Participate in project planning, coordination, implementation, and progress tracking.

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting under supervision.

• Assist with project management activities from solution development through to implementation.

• Conduct technical research, data analysis, and reporting where required.

• Ensure work is conducted in accordance with relevant safety regulations and quality standards.

• Participate in mentorship, technical training, and continuous professional development.

Requirements

• Recently completed a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng Engineering) or Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc (Eng)

• Certificate, short course, or completed coursework in Project Planning / Project Management .

• MS Office proficiency

• Valid driver's license is essential

• Basic knowledge of engineering design software ( AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB, or similar – advantageous)

• Willingness to travel or work on-site if required.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and numerical ability
