Start free — we apply for you →Candidate's First Year: - Execute water-audit fieldwork to our minimum standard — after supervised passes — with capture-error rates measured and falling. - Draft structured report sections that survive review with diminishing red pen. - Support design work: drawings coordination, calculations under supervision, site inspections and progress meetings. - Register as an ECSA Candidate Engineer (if not already) with your logbook current from month one and quarterly mentor reviews on record. - Own one improvement to the capture workflow — a validation rule, a checklist, a schema suggestion that makes the data better.
Must Have: - Engineering degree. BEng / BSc in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical or Environmental Engineering from a recognised institution. - ECSA pathway. Candidate Engineer registered or immediately eligible. - 0–4 years' experience in a consulting or infrastructure environment — strong vacation and practical work counts. - Structured technical writing. A report, thesis chapter or practical write-up you authored and can share. - Strong academic record. Expected at this level; any repeated subjects declared upfront with context - declared repeats are considered, undeclared ones are disqualifying. - Systems curiosity. You want to understand water infrastructure at systems level, not just the component in front of you. - Driver's licence and own transport. Site travel across Gauteng and nationally is part of the role.
Strongly preferred: - Water or treatment exposure (labs, plants, projects); CAD/Revit basics; spreadsheet or scripting ability (Excel to pivot level, Python a plus). - A genuine, articulable interest in water in South Africa.
