SA Power has an opportunity for a Graduate Application Engineer to join our Engineering team. This position is suited to a recent graduate who is looking to develop their technical skills in industrial automation through hands-on project work and structured mentoring.
Working with experienced engineers, you will gain practical experience in the design, programming, commissioning and support of industrial automation solutions for a wide range of industries. Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, development and implementation of industrial automation solutions.
- Assist with the preparation of technical proposals, system designs, costings and quotations.
- Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications for industrial control systems.
- Assist with the commissioning, testing and troubleshooting of automation systems.
- Support the development and implementation of servo and motion control applications.
- Consult with customers to understand their application requirements and assist in developing functional and technical solutions.
- Prepare technical documentation, commissioning guides and operating manuals.
- Work closely with the Integration, Sales and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality customer solutions.
- Participate in customer site visits for installations, commissioning and technical support.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies and new product developments.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering.
- Strong interest in industrial automation and control systems.
- Basic understanding of PLC programming and industrial control principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
The following knowledge/experience will be advantageous
- Exposure to PLC programming using IEC 61131-3 programming languages.
- Knowledge of HMI or SCADA development.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, Modbus, Ethernet/IP or Profinet.
- Exposure to servo or motion control systems.
- Vacation work, internships or university projects related to industrial automation.
