- We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and qualified Grade 4 & Grade 5 Afrikaans Teacher to join our Intermediate Phase team.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective Afrikaans instruction, fostering language development, and creating a positive learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of learners.
- The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching Afrikaans, have a strong understanding of the CAPS curriculum, and demonstrate excellent classroom management and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Afrikaans lessons for Grade 4 and Grade 5 learners in accordance with the CAPS curriculum.
- Develop learners' reading, writing, speaking, listening, and comprehension skills in Afrikaans.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
- Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of learner achievement and development.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning needs.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding learner progress and behaviour.
- Participate in staff meetings, school events, and professional development activities.
- Contribute to the school's extracurricular and cultural programmes where required.
Requirements Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Education B.Ed. degree
- Valid SACE registration
- Minimum of 3 years experience teaching Afrikaans in the Intermediate Phase Grades 4-6
- Sound knowledge of the CAPS curriculum
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Afrikaans and English
- Strong classroom management and organisational skills
- Proficiency in educational technology and digital learning tools
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Experience teaching Afrikaans Home Language and/or First Additional Language
- Proven record of learner achievement and academic support
- Involvement in cultural or extracurricular activities
- Commitment to continuous professional development
