Role Overview

Goldi, one of South Africa’s leading integrated poultry producers within the Astral Group, is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Retail Factory Shop Manager to lead its flagship Factory Shop in Standerton, Mpumalanga.

The successful candidate will independently manage the day-to-day retail operation and will be accountable for sales growth, profitability, customer service, people leadership, sound financial and stock controls, food safety and operational efficiency.

Role Responsibilities

• Manage all day-to-day store operations and ensure efficient trading;

• Drive sales growth, profitability and customer service excellence;

• Manage budgets, cash handling, banking and financial reporting;

• Control stock, ordering, receiving, merchandising and shrinkage;

• Lead, coach, recruit and develop store employees;

• Prepare staff rosters and manage performance and attendance;

• Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety and company policies;

• Maintain audit readiness and safeguard company assets;

• Prepare operational, financial and KPI reports.

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements

• Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification;

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Retail Management, Business Management, Commerce or a related field will be advantageous;

• A minimum of five years’ relevant retail experience, including at least three years in a store-management or senior retail-management role;

• Proven experience in independently managing a retail store or business unit;

• Demonstrated experience in budgeting, cash control, stock control, point-of-sale systems and retail reporting;

• Experience in employee supervision, performance management, training and shift scheduling;

• Experience in food retail, fast-moving consumer goods or cold-chain products will be advantageous;

• Knowledge of fresh, frozen and value-added chicken products will be beneficial;

• Intermediate computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook;

• Strong leadership, commercial awareness, numerical ability, communication and problem-solving skills;

• High levels of integrity, accountability, customer focus, attention to detail and the ability to work independently;

• Flexibility to work extended trading hours, weekends and public holidays in accordance with operational requirements.
