Role Overview

Goldi, one of South Africa's leading integrated poultry producers within the Astral Group, is looking for an accurate, trustworthy and customer-focused Retail Cashier to join its Factory Shop team in Standerton, Mpumalanga.

The successful candidate will process customer transactions, receive and safeguard payments, maintain accurate cash and point-of-sale records, and provide friendly and efficient service while protecting Company assets.

This opportunity is suited to a dependable individual with strong numerical ability, excellent attention to detail and the ability to remain accurate and professional in a busy retail environment.

Role Responsibilities

•  Process sales accurately through the point-of-sale system and issue customers with the correct receipts.

•  Handle cash, card and other approved payments securely and provide customers with the correct change.

•  Balance the allocated till, complete cash-ups accurately and report shortages, overages or discrepancies immediately.

•  Process refunds, voids, discounts and other adjustments only when properly authorised.

•  Provide friendly, efficient customer service and assist with basic customer queries.

•  Confirm pricing accuracy and comply with all transaction, cash-control and financial procedures.

•  Protect Company cash and stock and remain alert to potential theft, fraud or unauthorised transactions.

•  Maintain an organised, clean and fully stocked till area throughout the shift.

•  Complete cash-up, transaction and supporting administrative records accurately and on time.

•  Assist with merchandising, pricing checks, stock replenishment and other general retail duties when required.

•  Maintain food-safety and hygiene standards and report product-quality or temperature concerns promptly.

•  Comply with health, safety, security and Company policies and report hazards or incidents.

•  Work cooperatively with colleagues and maintain high standards of professionalism, attendance and integrity.

Required Qualifications and Knowledge

•  Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.

•  Previous cashiering, retail or customer-service experience will be advantageous.

•  Experience operating a point-of-sale system, card terminal, barcode scanner or receipt printer will be advantageous.

•  Previous cash-handling experience and sound basic numerical ability.

•  Basic computer literacy and the ability to complete transaction and cash-up records accurately.

•  Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to assist customers professionally.

•  Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy during repetitive transactions.

•  A high degree of honesty, integrity, accountability, reliability and punctuality.

•  The ability to work under pressure and maintain concentration during busy trading periods.

•  Cashier, POS, customer-service, cash-handling, fraud-awareness, food-safety or health-and-safety training will be advantageous.

•  Flexibility to work according to the Factory Shop roster, including weekends, public holidays and extended trading hours.

•  Physical ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally assist in chilled or frozen areas.

•  A commitment to customer service, food safety, product quality and maintaining the Goldi brand.
