Plant Room Attendant Role Overview

Goldi, one of South Africa's leading integrated poultry producers under the Astral Foods Group, is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious individual to join our engineering and maintenance team as a Plant Room Attendant.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the daily operations, monitoring, and basic maintenance of refrigeration plant machinery, ensuring all plant equipment runs efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with company standards.

Role Responsibilities The role will report to the Refrigeration Artisan.

• Operate all ammonia refrigeration equipment safely, correctly, and in accordance with established operating procedures.

• Assist artisans with maintenance of ammonia refrigeration equipment.

• Monitor and record critical information of check sheets.

• Perform start up inspection checks.

• Adhere to strict safety operating and maintenance procedures.

• Ensure housekeeping in and around the plant rooms are of a high standard

• Immediately report refrigeration issuers to the refrigeration Foreman.

Required Qualifications and Knowledge

• Matric;

• Relevant technical and operating experience with ammonia refrigeration equipment;

• Register at SARACA as CAT A gas practitioner.

• Be self-motivated and self-disciplined;

• Have sober habits;

• Must adhere to all relevant regulations as applicable to the industry;

• Must have at least 3 years’ experience in planned routine and

• preventative maintenance;

• Experience in the Food Processing Industry would be an added advantage;

• Must be prepared to work overtime, shifts, weekends and public holidays.
