Duties & Responsibilities
The Role The successful candidate will support the accounting and tax functions for the South African and EU entities, with responsibility for month-end accounting, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, VAT and tax-related activities, as well as supporting audits and global finance reporting. This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced accountant who is detail-oriented, commercially minded and comfortable working with international stakeholders . Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and post month-end and ad hoc journal entries. • Perform balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations. • Prepare month-end journals for review and reporting. • Manage intercompany accounting and settlement processes. • Maintain the fixed asset register. • Support statutory reporting and external audits. • Prepare VAT calculations and ensure timely submissions and payments. • Assist with corporate income tax, provisional tax and other tax reporting. • Support global finance and US reporting requirements. • Coordinate banking profiles and support Treasury-related requests. • Liaise with international stakeholders on accounting and finance queries. • Assist with ad hoc finance projects and process improvements. Requirements
- BCom Accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
- Fluent in English with full professional working proficiency in German.
- German language capability is essential for the role due to regular interaction with international stakeholders and global finance teams.
- Solid accounting knowledge and relevant experience in a similar accounting position.
- Experience with month-end accounting, reconciliations and general ledger processes.
- Exposure to VAT and/or corporate tax.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Comfortable working independently and to strict deadlines.
- Professional communication skills and confidence engaging with international stakeholders.
