Minimum Qualifications and Requirements Academic Qualifications: Diploma in German Language, German Studies, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Languages, Education (German) or a related field. A bachelor’s Degree in German, Linguistics, Education or a related discipline will be an added advantage. Language Proficiency: Advanced/native-level proficiency in German with excellent command of spoken and written German. Demonstrable ability to teach German from A1 through A3 levels. Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of Kiswahili will be an added advantage. Trainer/Pedagogy Qualification: Recognised teaching qualification, TVET pedagogy/trainer methodology, education qualification or equivalent. Certification in teaching German as a foreign language will be an added advantage. Professional Certifications – Added Advantage: Goethe-Zertifikat C1/C2 or equivalent recognised German language qualification. Certification or training in German as a Foreign Language (DaF/DaZ). Experience preparing candidates for Goethe-Institut or other recognised German language examinations. Experience Minimum 1–2 years’ experience teaching German as a foreign language. Demonstrable experience teaching A1, A2 and B1/A3-equivalent progression. Experience preparing learners for German language proficiency examinations will be highly desirable. Experience in vocational, technical, adult or competency-based training will be an added advantage. Experience teaching learners preparing for employment, study or migration to German-speaking countries will be an advantage. Skills and Competencies Expert knowledge of German language, grammar and linguistics. Excellent pronunciation and ability to model correct German communication. Strong understanding of progressive language acquisition from beginner to intermediate levels. Ability to deliver engaging, practical and learner-centred language training. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to develop effective language-learning materials and assessments. Strong classroom management and learner engagement skills. Ability to assess language proficiency and provide constructive feedback. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Good organisational, record-keeping and reporting skills. Ability to use digital platforms and technology to enhance language learning. Language and Computer Skills German – Excellent/Advanced proficiency required. English – Excellent proficiency required. Kiswahili – Added advantage. Good computer literacy, including use of Microsoft Office, online learning platforms and digital language-learning tools. Personal Attributes High integrity and professionalism. Passionate about languages and teaching. Patient, approachable and student-focused. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Culturally aware and sensitive. Confident and engaging classroom facilitator. Ability to motivate and inspire trainees. Strong attention to accuracy, particularly in grammar, pronunciation and written German. Additional Requirements Demonstrable expertise in German language teaching and language acquisition methodologies. Strong understanding of recognised European language proficiency levels and assessment principles. Commitment to quality training, continuous improvement and learner success. Ability to prepare trainees for progression through A1 → A2 → A3/B1-equivalent level, depending on the adopted examination framework. Willingness to support MTTI’s international employment and skills-development initiatives.
