Picup, a last-mile delivery and technology-focused company, powered by a scalable crowd-sourced driver network is seeking an experienced Data Analyst with geospatial expertise to drive our data-driven initiatives and optimize last-mile delivery operations.
This role combines advanced analytics capabilities with spatial intelligence to deliver strategic insights, working directly with Senior Management and cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence and business growth. Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Analytics & Reporting: ● Develop reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions for business stakeholders. ● Present strategic insights to senior and executive stakeholders. ● Design and implement KPI tracking systems to monitor operational performance. ● Conduct advanced statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and optimization opportunities. ● Develop models for demand forecasting, driver planning, resource allocation and risks. ● Design and lead data-driven decision-making initiatives across the organization. Geospatial Analysis: ● Analyze spatial patterns in customer distribution and delivery performance metrics. ● Integrate location-based data with business intelligence to provide operational insights. ● Use data analytics and geospatial tools to support strategic planning and expansion. Stakeholder Management & Requirements Gathering: ● Gather and translate business requirements into technical specifications. ● Partner with cross-functional teams to identify analytical needs and deliver actionable insights. ● Present complex analytical findings to diverse audiences. ● Drive adoption of data-driven best practices across the organization. ● Mentor junior team members and contribute to team knowledge sharing. Technical Implementation & Data Management: ● Design and maintain robust data storage solutions, data pipelines and analytics platforms. ● Develop automated data processing, reporting and self-serve analytics solutions. ● Ensure compliance with data governance standards and privacy regulations. ● Ensure high level of data quality and integrity across all analytical outputs. ● Integrate multiple data sources to create comprehensive analytical datasets. ● Optimize database performance and analytical query efficiency.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Required Qualifications: ● National Senior Certificate / Grade 12 Matric ● BSc degree in Data Science, Geospatial Science, Geography, or related field. ● 5-7 years experience in data analytics and business intelligence ● 2-3 years experience in geospatial analysis and location intelligence ● Experience with a combination of Supply Chain / Logistics and Startup Technology related businesses would be advantageous Technical Skills: ● Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets - Advanced ● SQL(Structured Query Language) - Advanced ● Python with geospatial libraries (GeoPandas, Shapely) - Advanced ● Data Warehousing (Snowflake, BigQuery) - Intermediate ● Data visualization tools (Looker Studio / Tableau / Power BI) - Intermediate ● Geospatial Tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) - Basic ● Web mapping tools (Leaflet, MapBox) - Basic ● Database Management: Experience with both relational and geospatial databases
