The Opportunity

Our client is an established consulting engineering and project management firm seeking a Geometrics Engineer with strong road design experience to work across municipal and provincial road infrastructure projects. The role offers the opportunity to contribute across the project lifecycle, from planning and design through to implementation, while working on technically varied municipal and provincial road projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Undertake geometric design of road infrastructure from concept through to detailed design.

• Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, profiles, cross-sections, intersections and associated road layouts.

• Design and contribute to municipal road projects, including new roads, upgrades and rehabilitation.

• Work on provincial government road projects, including route upgrades, rehabilitation, resealing and upgrading of existing road infrastructure.

• Prepare design drawings, technical reports, specifications and tender documentation.

• Undertake design calculations and technical assessments.

• Apply engineering judgement to resolve design challenges and provide practical technical solutions.

• Take ownership of assigned geometric design deliverables, ensuring quality, technical accuracy and timely delivery.

• Review design outputs and documentation to ensure technical accuracy, quality and compliance with applicable standards.

• Coordinate geometric design with related road and infrastructure disciplines.

• Provide technical support during construction and project implementation.

• Liaise with municipalities, provincial government departments, clients, contractors and professional teams.

• Ensure designs comply with applicable South African road engineering standards, specifications and project requirements.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• BSc / BEng in Civil Engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification.

• Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in geometric and/or road design.

• Proven experience in municipal road infrastructure projects.

• Proven experience in provincial government road infrastructure projects.

• Strong hands-on geometric road design experience.

• Experience with road upgrades, rehabilitation, resealing and/or upgrading of existing routes.

• Strong proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD.

• Consulting engineering experience.

• Strong communication, coordination and teamwork skills.

• ECSA professional registration or eligibility for registration would be advantageous.

• SANRAL road project experience would be advantageous.

• Valid driver's licence.
