- Meridian Wine Distribution is seeking a General Worker - Cleaner to join our team in Brackenfell, Cape Town . The successful candidate will provide cleaning, housekeeping, hospitality and general office support to ensure that workspaces, kitchens, meeting rooms and shared areas remain clean, organised, well stocked and welcoming for employees and visitors.
Key responsibilities
- Offices, kitchens, meeting rooms, bathrooms, and shared spaces remain clean and professional.
- Coffee stations, kitchens, and hospitality areas remain stocked and operational.
- Daily and weekly cleaning schedules are completed consistently and accurately.
- Groceries, cleaning products, and office supplies are available when required.
- Cleaning and housekeeping activities comply with hygiene and safety standards.
- Employees and visitors experience a neat, welcoming, and organised environment.
- Prepare and maintain coffee stations, kitchens, and hospitality areas.
- Ensure refreshments, crockery, and cutlery are available and clean when required.
- Support meeting room and boardroom readiness for visitors and meetings.
- Maintain a professional and welcoming office environment for staff and guests.
- Ensure reception, coffee shop, meeting rooms, and shared areas remain presentable.
- Support a positive workplace experience through cleanliness and organisation.
- Assist with maintaining a professional image across office facilities.
- Escalate presentation or maintenance concerns where required.
- Use cleaning products, groceries, and office supplies responsibly.
- Minimise unnecessary wastage of cleaning materials and consumables.
- Report damaged equipment or supply concerns promptly.
- Support cost-effective housekeeping and hospitality practices.
- Perform daily cleaning of offices, canteens, kitchens, corridors, bathrooms, and shared spaces.
- Ensure tables, counters, chairs, floors, blinds, and workspaces remain clean and organised.
- Empty dustbins and remove waste according to housekeeping procedures.
- Ensure shared office areas remain neat throughout the day.
- Perform intensive weekly cleaning according to housekeeping schedules.
- Vacuum carpets, clean windows, dust blinds, wipe walls, and deep clean surfaces.
- Ensure weekly cleaning standards are maintained across all office areas.
- Complete cleaning schedules and task sheets accurately.
- Ensure meeting rooms and boardrooms remain clean, organised, and ready for use.
- Arrange chairs, tables, and meeting spaces neatly and consistently.
- Remove used crockery and ensure rooms remain tidy after meetings.
- Ensure lights and air conditioners are switched off when rooms are not in use.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation within kitchens and canteens.
- Pack and unpack dishwashers where required.
- Clean fridges, microwaves, cupboards, counters, and appliances regularly.
- Ensure crockery and cutlery are packed away correctly.
- Monitor grocery stock and cleaning supplies.
- Conduct kitchen inventory checks where required.
- Ensure grocery and cleaning product orders are communicated timeously.
- Report shortages or low stock levels promptly.
- Ensure reception and coffee shop areas remain neat and professional.
- cleanliness of benches, tables, counters, and display areas.
- Ensure flowers, décor, and presentation standards are maintained.
- Keep hospitality areas stocked and organised.
- Maintain archive rooms and storage areas in a clean and organised condition.
- Dust shelves, boxes, counters, and storage areas.
- Ensure floors remain clean and free from clutter or paper.
- Support safe storage and housekeeping standards.
- Ensure the car wash area remains clean, organised, and stocked with required products.
- Wash vehicles according to schedules where required.
- Vacuum vehicle interiors and clean windows and surfaces.
- Ensure cloths and cleaning equipment are stored appropriately.
- Manage cleaning schedules and daily housekeeping responsibilities effectively.
- Maintain quality and productivity standards consistently.
- Prioritise housekeeping activities according to operational requirements.
- Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Participate in housekeeping and safety training initiatives.
- Maintain knowledge of cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and hygiene standards.
- Apply feedback to improve service quality and workplace presentation.

Education and experience
- Grade 10 or grade 12 is advantageous
- Previous housekeeping, cleaning, hospitality, or office support experience beneficial.
- Housekeeping etiquette, stock taking, office layout awareness, hygiene standards, and safety protocols.
- Numeracy, communication, organisation, planning, and attention to detail.
- Valid right to work in South Africa; passed criminal checks where required.
- Own transport beneficial; ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding cleaning activities.
