General Welder Duties & Responsibilities

Qualification

• Grade 12

• Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.

• Trade Test in Welding (advantageous but not essential)

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' proven experience as a welder in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

• Valid drivers license

• Experience working from engineering drawings.

• Experience with fabrication and assembly of metal components.

• Must be proficient in “Stick” (SMAW) and “TIG” (GTAW) processes.

• Must be proficient to weld at least in a 3G position (6G bonus)

• Must be proficient in the following welding material:

• Stainless steel (304L / 316L)

• Carbon Steel / Mild steel (516GR70 / 430A / etc.)

• Aluminium (1050 / 1050H14

• Attention to detail and be safety conscious

• Quality conscious

• Good hand-eye coordination, with the ability to work independently and under pressure

• Problem-solving ability, with good communication skills, also ensuring that production issues are communicated promptly

• Efficient Time management

• Be reliable and dependable

• Team player - Work effectively with supervisors and colleagues

• Safely manufacture, fabricate, repair and assemble metal components by performing high-quality welding using approved welding procedures and company quality standards.

• Responsible for ensuring that fabricated products meet dimensional, quality and safety requirements while maintaining productivity targets

• Stand for extended periods.

• Lift materials within safe manual handling limits.

• Work in confined spaces where required.

• Work in hot environments.

• Perform repetitive manual tasks.

• Use power tools safely.

• Wear PPE for extended periods.

• Inspect welding equipment before use.

Package & Remuneration

R 12 000 - R 13 500 - Monthly
