GENERAL WELDER Location: Rosslyn, Pretoria Department: Factory / Manufacturing Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role We are seeking an experienced General Welder to join a busy manufacturing and engineering environment based in Rosslyn, Pretoria. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe manufacture, fabrication, repair and assembly of metal components using approved welding procedures and quality standards. Applicants must have strong TIG (GTAW) and Stick (SMAW) welding experience, be confident working from engineering drawings and have experience welding stainless steel, carbon/mild steel and aluminium.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe manufacture, fabrication, repair and assembly of metal components using approved welding procedures and quality standards. The role requires a skilled and quality-conscious welder who takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work while meeting production, safety and quality requirements. Minimum Requirements
- Minimum Grade 10 (Standard 8) .
- Minimum 3 years' proven experience as a Welder within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
- Experience working from engineering drawings .
- Experience in the fabrication and assembly of metal components .
- Must be proficient in Stick Welding (SMAW) .
- Must be proficient in TIG Welding (GTAW) .
- Must be able to weld in at least a 3G position .
- 6G welding capability will be highly advantageous.
- A recognised Welding Trade Test will be advantageous but is not essential.
Welding Materials Experience Candidates must have experience welding the following materials:
- Stainless Steel – including 304L and 316L.
- Carbon Steel / Mild Steel – including 516GR70, 430A or similar.
- Aluminium – including 1050 and 1050H14.
Key Responsibilities Welding & Manufacturing
- Perform high-quality welding according to approved procedures and specifications.
- Manufacture, fabricate, repair and assemble metal components.
- Work accurately from engineering drawings and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Complete work according to production schedules and work instructions.
- Ensure welded components and fabricated assemblies meet required specifications.
- Maintain dimensional accuracy throughout the fabrication process.
- Complete assigned work within agreed production timelines.
- Meet daily production targets where applicable.
- Minimise material wastage and reduce rework through quality workmanship.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards within the work area.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
Fabrication & Assembly
- Prepare materials prior to welding.
- Cut, grind and fit materials as required.
- Assemble fabricated components.
- Verify measurements and dimensions before welding.
- Maintain dimensional accuracy throughout fabrication.
- Assist with fitting and assembly where required.
Quality Control
- Inspect completed welds.
- Verify completed work against engineering drawings and specifications.
- Identify welding defects and quality concerns.
- Correct non-conforming work where required.
- Ensure completed work meets required quality standards.
- Produce accurate, defect-free welds and fabricated components.
- Complete relevant job and production documentation accurately.
Equipment Maintenance
- Inspect welding equipment before use.
- Perform basic daily equipment maintenance.
- Keep welding machines and equipment clean and in good working condition.
- Replace worn consumables where necessary.
- Report equipment faults promptly.
- Ensure tools and equipment are stored correctly.
Health & Safety
- Comply with all workplace health and safety requirements.
- Wear prescribed PPE at all times.
- Follow safe welding and fabrication procedures.
- Handle gas cylinders safely.
- Follow all fire-prevention procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workstation.
- Participate in safety meetings and initiatives.
- Immediately report faulty, damaged, lost or stolen equipment.

- Performing repetitive manual tasks.
- Safely operating power tools.
- Wearing required PPE for extended periods.
Ideal Candidate This position would suit an experienced Welder / Fabricator who has worked within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment and is confident working from technical and engineering drawings. Strong TIG and Stick welding skills are essential , together with experience working with stainless steel, mild/carbon steel and aluminium . Candidates should be reliable, safety conscious, quality driven and comfortable working within a production-focused factory environment. Location: Rosslyn, Pretoria
