General Manager

Introduction

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven General Manager to provide overall leadership and management of our Manufacturing / Plant operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall performance of the operation, with a strong focus on Production Control, Administration, Sales, Financial Management and People Management. The role requires a hands-on leader who can effectively coordinate all operational functions while driving productivity, profitability and business growth.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the Manufacturing / Plant operation.

• Oversee production planning, production control and operational performance.

• Manage and coordinate Sales, Administration, Production, Stock, Procurement and Dispatch functions.

• Drive sales performance, customer retention and new business opportunities.

• Monitor budgets, operational costs, profitability and expenditure.

• Ensure effective stock control of raw materials and finished products.

• Monitor production output, productivity, wastage, downtime and product quality.

• Ensure customer orders are effectively coordinated with production capacity and delivery requirements.

• Lead and manage departmental managers, supervisors and operational teams.

• Monitor employee performance, attendance, productivity and staffing requirements.

• Ensure effective administrative controls, record keeping and management reporting.

• Identify operational risks, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, quality standards and health and safety requirements.

• Prepare and present operational, sales, production and financial performance reports to senior management/directors.

• Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency, profitability and overall business performance.

• Spice, seasoning and sauce production

• Blending, mixing, weighing and accurate measurement of ingredients

• Working with recipes, formulations and production specifications

• Batch preparation and consistency control

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Relevant Degree/Diploma in Business Management, Operations Management, Production Management, Commerce or a related field.

• Minimum 7–10 years' management experience within a manufacturing, production, FMCG or similar operational environment.

• At least 3–5 years' experience in a senior management role.

• Proven experience in Production Control, Administration and Sales Management.

• Strong financial and commercial understanding, including budgeting and cost control.

• Experience managing multiple departments and large operational teams.

• Strong knowledge of production planning, stock control and operational processes.

• Strong customer and business development skills.

• Excellent leadership, decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong administrative, reporting and computer skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple operational priorities.

• Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment involving spices, seasonings, sauces, marinades, condiments or similar products will be highly advantageous.
