General Engineering Supervisor-Fixed-Term Contract

Purpose of the Role To lead General Engineering Services team on plant and site maintenance activities, installations and manage Contractors on small works projects to ensure work is done safely and to set standards. Key Responsibilities Lead, motivate and allocate work to a multidisciplinary engineering crew ( Electrical, Mechanical, Civil & Plumbing) . Supervise Contractors during the erection and maintenance of LV, MV and HV overhead/underground power lines and reticulation networks. Oversee installation, testing and commissioning of domestic and industrial electrical systems including household wiring, MCCs, ATS, generators, HVAC, solar PV and borehole pumps. Enforce compliance with the ZESA Distribution Code, Electricity (Public Safety) Regulations, Karo Platinum Engineering Procedures and the Mine’s SHE Management System. Interpret and check drawings, blueprints and wiring diagrams; highlight design clashes or constructability issues. Develop job safety analyses, isolation/lock-out plans and permits to work; champion a zero-harm culture. Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities, ensuring maximum equipment availability and optimal life-cycle cost. Compile shift reports, material requisitions, QA/QC documentation and contractor progress measurements. Coach apprentices and artisans; identify skills gaps and recommend training interventions.
