- A General Assistant in the Paint Department will provide hands-on support to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of all painting-related activities. This role involves assisting machine operators, preparing materials, maintaining cleanliness and order in the production area, and following all safety and quality procedures.
Minimum Requirements Required Qualifications / Experience
- Minimum NQF Level 4 - 5 Grade 12+ / Higher certificate is essential.Knowledge on material grades and steel products – advantageous.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Forklift licence – advantageous.
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment – advantageous.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime when required.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices.
Duties and Responsibilities Job Specification
The following key areas are covered by this position
- Perform general duties as required to support smooth running of the paint department.
- Maintaining cleanliness and order, following housekeeping standards.
- Routine safety inspections and reporting of unsafe acts and conditions.
- Support the setup and operation of equipment.
- Ensure safe handling and storage of hazardous materials, according to procedures.
- Monitor and check quality and ensure non-conformances are reported timeously.
- Stack products in accordance with layout plan.
- Moves full / empty containers to required locations as per instruction.
- Record production, downtime and wastage.
- Reporting of any faults, defects, or equipment issues as well as maintenance requirements in designated area.
- Assisting other departments when needed.
- Understanding and conformance to the company policies and procedures.
