Duties & Responsibilities

  • Appointed as the responsible Engineer in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory engineering requirements and regulations.
  • Manage and maintain engineering systems, infrastructure, plant, mobile equipment, and associated assets.
  • Develop and implement engineering maintenance strategies to maximise equipment availability and reliability.
  • Oversee preventative and planned maintenance programmes.
  • Lead engineering teams and contractors to achieve safety, production, and maintenance targets.
  • Ensure effective management of engineering budgets and cost control measures.
  • Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor equipment performance and drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Assist with capital projects, feasibility studies, and engineering improvements.
  • Liaise with operational departments to ensure engineering support aligns with production requirements.
  • Ensure all legal inspections, audits, and reports are completed accurately and timeously

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

· Grade 12 / Matric.

· BEng/BSc Engineering Degree, National Diploma Engineering, or equivalent qualification.

· Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works) (Essential).

· Minimum 5 years' mining engineering experience in a legal appointment role.

· Proven experience within open-pit mining operations will be advantageous.

· Thorough knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act and applicable engineering regulations.

· Strong leadership, planning, and people management skills.

· Experience managing engineering contractors and multidisciplinary teams.

· Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.

· Valid driver's licence.
