Detail: Purpose of the Role To act as the mine's appointed Section 2.13.1 Engineer, holding statutory responsibility for the mechanical/engineering integrity of the operation in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act, and to ensure the plant remains compliant with all applicable engineering regulations. Minimum Requirements Valid Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) - Mines and Works Proven experience acting in a Section 2.13.1 (or equivalent statutory appointee) capacity at a mine or similar operation Sound working knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and related regulations Experience with plant machinery, installations, and repair sign-off processes in a mining environment Willingness to be based at or regularly travel to the Boshoek/Rustenburg site Key Responsibilities Hold the statutory Section 2.13.1 appointment for the operation Sign off on all plant changes, including new installations and repairs, prior to use Conduct regular on-site inspections in line with statutory requirements Provide technical guidance and support to site management and engineering staff Assist with and review monthly statutory engineering reports Liaise with the DMPR and other regulatory bodies as required regarding engineering compliance Maintain accurate records of inspections, sign-offs, and compliance actions Desirable Prior experience in a silica, coal, or similar mineral processing operation Experience managing or mentoring junior engineering staff show more...
