Company based at Rustenburg / Boshoek, North West is seeking to hire a skilled GCC Engineer to join their team. Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose of the Role To act as the mine's appointed Section 2.13.1 Engineer, holding statutory responsibility for the mechanical/engineering integrity of the operation in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act, and to ensure the plant remains compliant with all applicable engineering regulations.
Minimum Requirements
- Valid Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) - Mines and Works
- Proven experience acting in a Section 2.13.1 (or equivalent statutory appointee) capacity at a mine or similar operation
- Sound working knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and related regulations
- Experience with plant machinery, installations, and repair sign-off processes in a mining environment
- Willingness to be based at or regularly travel to the Boshoek/Rustenburg site
Key Responsibilities
- Hold the statutory Section 2.13.1 appointment for the operation
- Sign off on all plant changes, including new installations and repairs, prior to use
- Conduct regular on-site inspections in line with statutory requirements
- Provide technical guidance and support to site management and engineering staff
- Assist with and review monthly statutory engineering reports
- Liaise with the DMPR and other regulatory bodies as required regarding engineering compliance
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, sign-offs, and compliance actions
Desirable
- Prior experience in a silica, coal, or similar mineral processing operation
- Experience managing or mentoring junior engineering staff
