Job Title: Game Farm Manager Start Date: 2026-08-13 - 2026-09-12 Vacancy Type: Permanent SW006496 Sectors: Agriculture Hospitality Location: Western Cape , Barrydale Salary: (Market related, Negotiable) Brief: farm manager We are looking for an exceptionally disciplined, physically fit, and self-sufficient Game Farm Manager for a hands-on, live-in position near Barrydale. This is an intensive one-person role requiring strong physical endurance and daily self-discipline. The position operates primarily as a “ one-person operation ” , where you will personally handle the majority of the physical labour, maintenance, field monitoring, and security on the farm. External assistance and contractors will only be brought in on an ad hoc basis for larger projects, requiring maximum independence and initiative on a daily basis. Detail: Key Responsibilities Independent Physical Labour & Infrastructure Maintenance: Personally perform manual labour for routine property maintenance, including repairs to farm fencing, dirt roads, water/wind/solar pump systems, dams, grounds, and basic electrical infrastructure Mechanical & Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and continuously service farm vehicles and machinery, including a tractor, grader, motorcycles, and bakkie Field & Game Monitoring: Maintain a disciplined routine for game counts, checking water points, erosion control, and monitoring the general condition of the veld and animals across rugged terrain Hunting Operations Support: Assist with all physical requirements of game hunting operations, including field tracking and the handling and processing of heavy carcasses. Boundary Security: Maintain a high level of vigilance through regular, proactive anti-poaching measures Ad Hoc Contractor Supervision: Manage daily operations independently while supervising general workers or specialised contractor teams when they are brought onto the farm for specific projects Requirements Physical Fitness & Endurance: Ability to perform physical manual labour in challenging climate and terrain conditions Self-Discipline: A high level of personal responsibility and structure to maintain strict maintenance schedules, security protocols, and daily routines without direct supervision Independent / One-Person Approach: Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment, take full personal ownership of farm operations, and rely on external assistance only when necessary Practical Experience: Minimum 15 years of proven, practical experience on South African game reserves, farms, or nature reserves.
