Full Stack Java Developer

Our client is seeking a skilled Full-Stack Developer to join a technology team supporting a live, business-critical workflow platform. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to take ownership of features from requirements through to production while working across Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and MySQL.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.

• Strong Java and Spring ecosystem experience, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Security.

• Solid Angular experience, including component architecture, RxJS, and TypeScript.

• Strong MySQL and relational database skills, including schema design, query optimisation, and indexing.

• Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.

• Experience with GitLab or an equivalent platform for version control, code reviews, and CI/CD.

• Proven experience supporting live, business-critical production systems.

• Strong understanding of secure coding, authentication, authorisation, access control, and data protection.

• Awareness of POPIA/GDPR principles.

• Relevant Computer Science or Software Engineering qualification, or equivalent demonstrable experience.

Advantageous

• JPA/Hibernate and broader Spring technologies such as Spring Data, Spring Batch, or Spring Cloud.

• Linux administration and shell scripting.

• Docker and containerised deployments.

• Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Microservices architecture and messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.

• Automated testing using JUnit, Mockito, Cypress, Karma, or similar.

• Experience within financial services, insurance, pensions, or a related industry.
