Introduction

Our client is looking for an Expert Full Stack Developer / AI Platform Engineer to join the Software Engineering DevOps team within their global IT Hub, driving core transactional assets and static vehicle master data platforms ex-factory ("Fahrzeugdaten ab Werk").

This domain encompasses mission-critical TOP5 enterprise systems including IG_DOM, VDWH, CDH Static Vehicle Master Data, and the strategic MIDA cloud migration initiative. In this senior technical leadership role, you will architect and build the DVF AI Platform capability, engineer high-throughput data and integration layers with Snowflake and AWS, and establish production-grade Generative AI, RAG, and agentic solutions.

• Expert Python & Platform Engineering: 7+ years of deep backend and systems engineering in Python, building microservices, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and containerized workloads on Kubernetes.

• Generative AI, Agents & Guardrails: Demonstrable production expertise in LLM applications, RAG pipelines, multi-agent orchestration, context engineering, human approval gates, and AI observability.

• Enterprise Data Architecture (Snowflake): Advanced capability designing Snowflake data models optimized for AI consumption, large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines, advanced SQL, data lineage, and secure access patterns.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Build DVF AI Platform: Design and deliver reusable platform services, APIs, libraries, templates, and architectural patterns to support multiple product teams.

• Enable Production Use Cases: Partner with application teams to take AI initiatives from prototype through to governed, resilient production deployments.

• Implement Snowflake Capabilities: Architect and maintain Snowflake data schemas, pipelines, and integrations powering real-time and analytical use cases.

• Drive AI-Native Engineering: Embed responsible AI practices, AI developer accelerators, automated test generation, and AI-assisted code reviews across delivery squads.

• Technical Leadership: Lead architecture reviews, mentor senior engineers and team leads, establish code quality standards, and represent technical best practices.

• Operate & Optimize: Oversee production observability, telemetry, and incident management to continuously improve system reliability, latency, and cloud costs.

Applicants based outside of Gauteng must be willing to relocate to Midrand/Menlyn/Rosslyn. Please note that relocation to the province will be at the candidate's own cost.

• Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, or a related field.

• Minimum of 7+ years of active software, data, and platform engineering experience building complex production systems.

• Demonstrable commercial track record taking Generative AI/LLM systems into governed production environments.

• Deep, hands-on enterprise implementation experience with Snowflake or comparable cloud data warehouses.

• Languages: Expert-level Python.

• Architecture: Microservices, REST APIs, event-driven/asynchronous systems, and Infrastructure as Code.

• Containers & Cloud Native: Docker, Kubernetes, automated testing frameworks, and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.

AI Engineering & AI-Native Practices

• GenAI & Agentics: Production LLM integration, Agent/tool orchestration, structured outputs, prompt and context engineering, and advanced RAG architectures.

• AI Governance & Reliability: AI guardrails, human approval mechanisms, evaluation suites, production monitoring, and security protection.

• AI-Native SDLC: Embedding AI into specification-driven development, code refactoring, test generation, and documentation.

Snowflake & Data Engineering

• Snowflake Platform: Data modeling for AI/application consumption, advanced SQL, data ingestion, and transformation pipelines.

• Data Governance: Metadata, data lineage, quality monitoring, and secure enterprise access control.

Advantageous Skills

• Certified in Snowflake, AWS, Kubernetes / Cloud Native, Terraform, or AI/ML.

• Experience with embeddings, vector databases, semantic search, knowledge graphs, and ontologies.

• Experience with Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, AWS cloud engineering, and GitHub Actions.

• Background in building internal developer platforms, federated data architectures, or experience within automotive/manufacturing domains.
